Alta Via 1 2025

Better get to booking asap

Happy Friday!

I’m back from a truly amazing, but surprisingly hard Fisherman’s Trail hike over 4 days along Portugal’s Wild coast. What a dream multi-day hike right on the cliffs and beaches of the Atlantic! This part of Portugal is the antithesis of the Algarve and it’s over-touristed condo-land. More to come once I sort through the 738 video clips (ouch) because October, November, March and April are the best months to do it.

Here’s what I’ve got today👉

  • Alta Via 1 Video: What I Wished I had known before going

  • 3 Places to Book the Alta Via 1 for 2025

Alta Via 1 New Video:

For those that are on the fence, I made a video to help you decide if this is a good vacation for you in the summer of 2025. In fact, I would recommend only July or August and not the shoulder seasons. This year both June and September were borderline (if not seriously) dangerous with blizzards and storms. So you’ll want to book right now to get spots.

I will continue to say that it’s the perfect beginners hut-to-hut trail as you get epic scenery and maximum comfort.

Where to Book the Alta Via 1: Now is the time

I know, it’s crazy to begin booking in October for next summer but that’s the way it goes. Post covid, trekking vacations have gotten extremely popular and the beds at rifugios are limited. I’ve shared my spreadsheet planner for independent travelers, but if you want someone to take away the stress I’ve found 3 very professional services for you to use.

As always, if you book through clicking on my links you’ll pay the same price but support my blog and my ability to scout out these cool culinary hikes that are life-changing, awe-inspiring and the opposite of mass tourism.

  1. Alpenventures Unguided: My favorite self-guided tour company for AV1. 👉 Check Dates.

  2. BergXperience: My favorite bespoke planner, she planned our AV1 trip to include wellness rifugios ;-) 👉 Check Viola’s website. She also plans ski safaris which are incredible. I am not an affiliate, but please tell her I sent you.

  3. 57Hours: My favorite GUIDED tour company. While I’ve not felt the need for a guided hiking the Dolomites, I’ve taken their webinars and had an hour long conversation with one of their planners on videophone. I think I may utilize their services for a women’s only Iceland trip soon. 👉 Check Dates

FB Lives: 2nd Thursdays of the Month

Last month I presented some info on how the Alta Via 1 is family friendly - for most. I’m curious what other kinds of topics would be helpful on a live presentation? Email me back with your top questions as I’ll be doing it every 2nd Thursday of the month.

Thank you so much for reading!
