How to Book 2023 Dolomites Hut Hiking - And a service that will do it for you

It's almost the last chance to DIY or use this paid service to reduce the hassle

Today is Feb 2 2023,

Hello Adventure Lovers!

It's about the last chance you'll have to book your Dolomites huts for the summer of 2023 if you want to do the iconic Alta Via 1.

That's not the only awesome hut to hut trail in the Dolomites however. ;-)

Resources for planning Alta Via 1:

1. DIY planner on google sheets. Simply copy and paste it to make it your own. I've got the links to the huts you can contact directly, bus time tables, distances walked each day and elevation gains.

2. Self-Guided Planning Service - Alpenventures Unguided. The owner is an American expat who does all the hikes herself first. She makes it easy for other travelers to enjoy these magical experiences in the Alps and Dolomites by doing all the planning and reservations.

It's "self-guided" so you don't have to go in a group with a guide, but you also don't have to figure out all the logistics yourself. It's a great way to get all the benefits of a tour guide without actually having to be at the mercy of a group of random people. English speaking Guided tours also tend to cost 3-6,000 euros, which is highway robbery IMO. BTW: German speaking guided tours are a fraction of that cost.

She will take care of all the logistics for you (routes, book the huts, provide GPS tracks for your phone, etc) so you can just show up and hike your own hike safely and enjoy the unique hut culture.

These are the top 3 Self Guided Trekking packages she has are:

  1. 4 days Alta Via 1 : --> Click Here to book.

2. Classic 10 Day Alta Via 1 : --> Click Here to book.

3. Best of the Dolomites (Traverse from Seceda to Tre Cime) in 9 Days : ---> Click Here to book. This one will be the least crowded and most scenic. This is on my bucketlist!

There are a lot of options so I find it best just to schedule a call and learn more. It will save you HOURS of back and forth logistics with hut owners.

If you're still on the fence about a hut to hut hiking trip, read my article discussing the Pros and Cons of Hut to Hut hiking in Europe. 👎🏻

If you missed last week's post about Lago di Braies, check it out here. It's really an astounding place to visit for a day hike (or the beginning of the Alta Via 1 trail) but only if you get there early to beat the crowds.

Have a great weekend!

Fun fact??!?!?!

Here is a fun fact about Rifugio Lagazuoi: During World War I, the hut was used as a military stronghold by the Austro-Hungarian army and was the site of intense battles between Austrian and Italian forces. Today, visitors can still see the remains of the trench systems, tunnels, and fortifications that were carved into the mountain during the war. The hut has been fully restored and now serves as a popular stop for hikers and mountaineers exploring the Lagazuoi peaks

➡️ 📸 Romantic Hiking? Waterfall hikes can definitely up the "wow" factor to a spouse who doesn't love hiking as much as you do. Watch my waterfall videos from around Iceland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia and more.

I'm not a youtuber and the quality is definitely boomer, but I would LOVE it if you gave it a like to get the algorithm moving in the right direction. Thanks!

Until next time, Adventures Await!
