Have you heard of a Klettersteig?
beginner climb-hiking - german version of via ferrata
Hey there Outdoor Lover!
I hope you're doing well and have been able to get out and enjoy the spring weather on some beautiful trails. As for me, I've been busy researching the best long distance hiking trails in Germany where you can stay in hotels each night or even have your luggage transported.
And....I did my first klettersteig! What's that you may ask? It's like halfway between hiking and climbing and there are some really great baby versions here in Germany (and some mammoth ones in the Alps and Dolomites).
My inner ear is about as sound as lego fortress so vertigo is no joke for me, but this is nice medium to get some more excitement in a hike and i've written about it below.
But before we get to that, I want to remind you that Mother's Day is just around the corner. Don't forget to show your appreciation for all the amazing moms out there! If you're struggling to find the perfect gift, be sure to check out my gifts for female hikers link. There are plenty of great options for the special mom in your life.
Now, back to the trails! I recently hiked the mittelrhein klettersteig 6km trail, which is the most exciting part of the "Rhineburgenweg" 195km long distance trail in Germany. It's a thrilling and not-so-challenging climb, and I highly recommend checking it out.
That's it for this week, folks! Be sure to check back in next week, where I'll be sharing an exciting new article about the Dolomites about an off-the-beaten path hut to hut hike that IS NOT the Alta Via 1. Trust me, you won't want to miss it.
