Hello Hikers-

As promised, here’s my full write up of the summit hike of Toaca Varful in Romania’s hidden northern Carpathians. Perfect for June to October hikes with family or solo. Fortunately, it’s popular enough that there are no bears here (most likely, there’s always threat of bears in Romania).

  • 519 stairs to the summit

  • Haystacks :-)

  • Plenty of kids options at trailhead like an alpine slide, jumpy castles and food.

  • it’s a hard hike and you’ll feel accomplished

  • stunning views

This dayhike is very vibey, friendly and has one of the best mountain huts I’ve been to. It was surprising and wonderful. Get the sour hen soup, it’ll change your life.
