Secret Dragon's Teeth WWII Bunker Hike🇩🇪
+ last minute women's only guided hiking trip
Hey there Epic Hikers!
Are you looking for some secret WWII history on your next hike?
👎 Plus authentic bombed out bunkers that German villagers used for cover and was part of the German version of Roosevelt’s work programs…
hidden behind a cow field….such amazing history. scary and cool.
This dayhike in the Untold Pfalz area of Germany will make you think.
The trail, located near the border with France, is part of the hidden “Westwall” or “Siegfried Line”. It’s the German answer to France’s Maginot line and really it was a jobs stimulus program that the German government tried to reverse the poverty of the 1930s.
Most of the “dragon’s teeth” (anti-tank barricades), bunkers, tunnels and “Panzer traps” (ponds to sink enemy tanks) were intentionally destroyed by either enemy bombs or German guilt after the war.
It’s fascinating to come upon a piece of history in the middle of the forest…only a very few of these relics remain today.
This 5 mile day hike includes both Dragons’ teeth and bunkers.
This is another weird, but awesome hike with German culture.
Let’s go hiking…
