The real hardest part of the Fisherman's Trail (It's not the distance)
Watch Porto Covo to Vila Nova de Milftontes with some fun background music. We found out why the sand is worse than the steep climbs.
Hey there epic hikers!
We’ve officially started the legendary Fisherman's Trail in Portugal!
Day 1 was supposed to be a scenic warm-up, but the section from Almograve to Porto Covo had other plans. I was ready for the distance, but the coastal sand itself was a brutal, unexpected challenge.
I had my best friend and two newbie teens with me, and watching them struggle with the deep, shifting dunes quickly turned the walk into a test of morale. This video is the reality check on what the first day of this beautiful trek is actually like—and why the sand is the hardest part.

Stay tuned for Day 2, where we either find our footing or quit.
Happy Trails,
